Local and International Travel (Business)

  • A Moratorium is placed on all International travel to COVID-19 affected countries
  • A Moratorium is placed on all non-essential local travel

International Travel (Personal)

  • Reconsider pre-booked holidays for international travel
  • TAKE NOTE: 14 consecutive days of self-quarantine will be compulsory for any international travels. If travels are not business related, self-quarantine will be unpaid leave or if agreed by Management, Annual leave or Leave in Lieu of overtime worked

Local Travel (Personal)

  • Employees are encouraged to stay at home and minimize unnecessary travelling
  • Reconsider pre-booked local holidays or trips to congested areas such as malls and events where you may be exposed to a group of people

Sick leave

The Labour Legislation Act does not make provision for emergency sick or annual leave for instances such as the present.

A medical certificate must still be provided for any form of sick leave as per the company policy.

Employees are encouraged to disclose general symptoms of a cold or flu to the HR Department without delay.

Such employees will be required to stay at home until such time they are fit to return to work but will however still be required to justify their absence by means of a medical certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner.

Should the employee be able to justify absence from work by means of such a certificate, the period of absence will be paid from the employee’s sick leave entitlement.

Should the employee not have enough sick leave available, such absence will unfortunately be without any remuneration or benefits, unless annual leave is available for payment purposes or if otherwise decided by the employer.

Due to the nature of the illness, an employee with Covid-19 is not permitted to return to work until the employee is cleared to do so by a registered medical practitioner.

Work Sites (Client’s Premises)

The Client’s policies and procedures or Devcotech management monitoring of the site-specific risks, will determine our site-specific action.

Assessment Criteria (COVID-19)

Employees may be assessed in terms of the attached annexure ‘A’, that will act as a guideline to determine the risk factors in comparison to the symptoms showed by the respective employee or group of employees.

Employees who have been assessed and who are showing similar symptoms as prescribed in annexure ‘A’ will be isolated and sent home. Employees will be required to seek medical attention and inform the Company of the situation and diagnosis immediately after the consultation with a registered medical practitioner.

Devcotech reserves the right to scan body temperature in a non-obtrusive manner (Infrared scanning – similar to airport scanners).

Employees are encouraged to disclose similar symptoms they may have had the past month (February 2020).

Ramifications

A “National state of disaster” was declared by the President of South Africa which has several ramifications for the Country and the Industry the Company operates in.

It is the responsibility of each and every individual to ensure they have good personal hygiene.

Although we all must act in a safe and responsible manner, it is important to remember that with low or no activity, our company has no means to generate income. Therefore it is in all our interest to be productive, in effort to secure our futures.
